Gemstones are quite impressive and jaw opening beautiful. However, due to its ravishing appearance, it generally compels a person to think that how these gemstone look so beautiful, There is one more fact which makes people think about so, Since, gemstones are generally found in the rocks or mountain and they look quite dull while their abstraction from the mines. Hence, it invokes a question in a person mind that what are the treatments or enhancements which are work on the stone to make it look
so impressing. So in today’s post, I will discuss.
Heat treatment: As I already told that a gemstone looks dull during the time of its mining. Moreover, at the time of gemstone mining a gemstone contains so many impurities which need to be avoided in order to fetch the better result from wearing a gemstone. Therefore, in order to preserve the color and other qualities of the stone, the heat treatment is performed on the stone.
It is very rare to find stone without any inclusion. However, all inclusions are not studied to be harmful, if it is performed to nurture the quality of a gemstone. In order to preserve the qualities of the gemstone, it is heated on high temperature at 1500 c to 1800 c to enhance beauty. While heating these gemstones a proper care must be taken otherwise, all the specific properties of stone will be washed away. Heating treatment is performed on the stone with diffusing beryllium and irradiation to enhance appearance of the stone.
Beryllium Treatment of Gemstones: This is a powerful treatment which is performed on the gemstone to enhance the color properties of the stone. Beryllium in Be2+ has a very small ion; it is therefore efficient of penetrating deep into the sapphire, via diffusion, during heat treatment. It is very hard to spot the impurities which have been added into the stone. To identify the inclusion analysis of the gemstone can be done through magnifier which is only able to find or capture the beryllium.
Waxing and Oiling: This is one of the best capabilities which are practiced in order to enhance the color and other properties of the stone. In this process a gemstone has to undergo waxing and oiling treatment to enhance its luster and shine. Moreover, this technique is basically used to cover all the fractures and holes and in order to increase the quality of the stone.
Dyeing: Due to rigid treatments which a gemstone has to undergo, a gemstone normally loses its natural luster and shine. So in order to get back that luster and shine, the stone has to be polished or dyed in such a way so that it looks quite like to original stone.
